WOW

Good Day!!!

Here are your AP updates:

SLOs were administered last week in Connection classes. There are some classes that will be administering some this week. Please continue to be flexible as we work to test all of our students.

Screeners/RTI:

At this point all screeners have been administered to the students. Adequate data should be available to determine RTI placement for students in need of academic/behavior interventions. RTI training will be held Tuesday during your second planning as a Wow session. Please make sure that you are  present and on time.

Discipline/Routines:

Cafeteria: Please continue to reinforce our PAWS Expectations in the cafeteria. Encourage the students to hold productive and positive conversations. Remember to help monitor students' behavior by alternating walking throughout the cafeteria and reminding the students of their noise level.

15/15: Remember to observe this expectation. There should be NO passes the first and last 15 minutes of every class unless there is an emergency. This allows the administrators an opportunity to perform hallway sweeps and safety checks. It is important that we all adhere to this expectation.

Uniforms: Continue to reinforce the uniform policy. The weather is changing and students are going to begin to wearing sweaters/jackets. Sweaters and jackets should be solid black, yellow, grey, or white. There is no exception. If there is an issue with a student, please refer them to the appropriate person for assistance (Tolbert/Griffith).

Pre-Conferences:

If your are scheduled to meet with me for your pre-evaluation conference, you will receive a link this week that will allow you to choose a time on my calendar. We must be complete with conferences before the end of the month. You are encouraged to finish your self-assessment this week.

Have a great week! Remember that what you do to children matters! Let's make a a difference in the lives that we touch!

Routine Update

Teachers,

In my last post, I forgot to remind you all of the 15/15 rule. Students should not be allowed in the halls the first and last 15 minutes of every class period. This allows time for us to clear the halls and ensure that all students are where they should be for the class period. Please be sure to communicate and enforce the expectation with the students.

Rituals and Routines Update

All we have been doing a great job of implementing our PBIS plan. Many positive behaviors and actions have been observed throughout our building.  However, we must work to be consistent as adults throughout the building. Below you will find a few reminders to help hold our Panther Nation accountable for our school wide expectations.

Teacher Duty Station

  • It is imperative that you arrive to work on time and be in your designated areas for morning duty. All teachers are expected to greet your students as they are entering your classes.
  • In a like manner, please report to your afternoon duty stations in a timely manner. All teachers are expected to walk the bus loop in an effort to get students on the buses safely.
Uniforms
  • Students are expected to have on a black, gold, or white collar shirt. Undershirts should be one of our school colors. Boys should have their shirts tucked at all times and pants pulled up. Jackets should be solid black, white, grey, or gold. Please hold students accountable. There is no exception to the rule.
Classrooms
  • Students should not be placed in the hallway for discipline infractions. Please follow the protocol so that we are better able to assist the student.
  • Although we give every student 25 merits at the beginning of each week, you are expected to recognize positive behaviors with merits. The data indicate that we are giving a lot of demerits. Remember the plan should be positive not punitive. Give the merits.
  • Please be sure that you have a classroom management plan in place to address student academic and behavior concerns. Start now being firm, fair, and consistent!
No Flex Zone
  • Remember that we have a "NO FLEX ZONE". This means that students should not have cell phones out from 8:00 - 3:40. If students need to call home, they should use the classroom phone to make calls. They should not be sent to the front office. Please follow the school's protocol for handling a student for violating this expectation.

RTI Update

Teachers,

It is time to begin looking at our students' progress and behavior. Beginning the week of September 14th we will be ready to implement our RTI school-wide plan. All data from the screeners should be available along with approximately 4 weeks of data. Please plan to participate in the RTI Wow session that will be held September 15th during your 2nd planning period. If your team has not sent me an invitation for RTI meetings, please do so immediately.

Important Assessment Information

Good afternoon!!!

We are about to embark upon a week of testing! Please be sure to plan accordingly and be flexible.  Beginning Wednesday, September 9th, Connection teachers will be administering SLOs. SLOs will be administered in AgriScience, Art, Orchestra, Band, Chorus, Spanish, French, and FCA.  Be prepared to not have a collaborative teacher as they will be needed to help administer tests to students with IEPs.

Wednesday, September 10th: All students will be given the GRASP screener during their Math class.  Information has been provided to teachers from Mrs. Baldwin. No accommodations will be given to students as we want to get a more accurate picture of where the students are academically. September 11th will be used to administer make up tests.

Scantron- The Scantron test is being administered to students by Mrs. Gianassi and Mrs.Clark. Please be flexible if students are being pulled or arriving to your class late.
